Camping Part II

Sunset from camp.

Mmmm, smores.
Hiking around at dusk.

Camping

We headed south to some warmer weather and our first camp out of the summer. We got super lucky and the first side road we checked had an amazing camp site and no one around. We had a wonderful time hiking around and checking out what the area had to offer. It was also the first time we used our enormous 6 person tent for the 3 of us. It worked out pretty good, the best sleep we've had camping together at least.
Roasting marshmallows.
Enjoying marshmallows
Hitching a ride with dad to a hike.

Where else can you make a snowman camping on June 23rd?

Frisco Hike/Silverthorne Park

We headed to the county for a hike and playtime at the Silverthorne Park. Dillon also has the bakery that makes Cookie Monster cupcakes, which is a must have for Granola.

This is probably her favorite park so far.

Checking out Dillon Reservoir.

Mom's Company Party

We went to the Glenwood Fun Park for mom's party this year. We all had fun with all the different activities there. Granola really liked the alpine coaster and 4D theatre. Another favorite was the Giddy up. She was able to get a geode and have it cut right in front of her. We were able to sneak her on the trampoline which she wasn't that impressed with. And of course the tram rides up and down. All in all another great time.

Quick GJ Trip

We headed to GJ for Jeremiahs birthday. We went to Rocket Park and had some pizza and cupcakes. Granola and Jeremiah had fun playing and probably would have played all night if allowed. We had to walk the entire main street before we left for home so Granola could see all there was to see. Her favorites were the climbing wall and the water fountain, obviously.

Random Shots From the Last Month

Helping make pancakes from scratch.
Strumming on dads old guitar.
She just wanted a picture with mom, then I had to print it out for my fathers day card for her.
Getting ready for Soccer camp this July.

Fathers Day at Copper

After our hike we headed to Copper for some activities and lunch. Mom was the choice for the boats and Dad for the go carts. By the end of the go cart ride Granola was almost laying flat on her back. We all had a great time and plan on making frequent stops at Copper this summer.

Fathers Day Hike

Fathers day ended up being really fun. We started our day out hiking at Officers Gulch Lake. Granola loves walking Odie, but its usually for just short periods. Another fun thing she has been doing is finding trees her height and saying "this one is Granola's size".

Hiking in Leadville

We've been getting a lot of hikes in at Turqouise Lake lately. Mainly because most other trails are still snowed in. We decided to be the first of the season in the parking lot of the Timberline Lake Trail. While getting through the 2 drifts to the clear lot, the trail was snowed in a few hundred yards in. Maybe a couple more weeks. Granola has really been enjoying climbing on rocks while we're hiking, sometimes big ones.

Downtown GJ

Grand Junction just finished some improvements to its main street that included a lot of activities for the kids. Granola really enjoyed her walk downtown this trip.

Climbing

After our night of camping we stopped in BV for some time at the park. This was her first day trying the climbing wall. Three attempts in and she was able to do it all by herself. The next day I took her to the Leadville park with a climbing wall. This park is rated for 5-12 year olds and she did their climbing wall 1st try! I will need to get video of that and post it soon. She really is an amazing climber.

What a Week

To start we headed to Copper and picked up Granola her summer season pass. We also got a nice hike in at Officers Gulch. Tuesday was a trip to Frisco for a hike, and Silverthorne for the park. And we ended the week with a night of camping. I will try to catch up on the photos later, but here is a favorite from Copper(on fathers day).

Hanging at the Hotel

We opted for the king room with a hot tub, never again. Granola needs her own bed. When she realizes someone is sleeping next to her, she will pedal you like a bike. The hotel had a nice indoor pool and hot tub for us to play in. And their breakfast included Lucky Charms!

Childrens Museum

We started our trip off at the Children's Museum. Kind of small but a lot for Granola to do. She was able to play in the bubble room, paint, played with tools and ran around a nice park outside.
